Walking into the unknown

…when you begin your day (your year) with a word of Prayer, even if it’s with just a few words, just to tell God to have His way in you, to guide your mind, your feet, your hands, tongue, lips, eyes, ears and everything in you, for you cannot make it without Him being on your side. His strength is made perfect in our weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9-AMP “My grace is sufficient for you [My loving-kindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me”… AMEN!

It’s the second week of January 2016, and it kinda doesn’t feel like it. It’s a fact that it’s only the calendar that changed, like for real, and in our minds (not necessarily our lives), it registered that we’re now in a New Year, and I know that if I ask you what’s different with this year, at this point, you’ll hardly have an answer for me, and you’ll probably say, “It’s too early to tell”, or like some people are fond of asking, “Huu mwaka unauonaje?” (some ask “Hii mwaka niaje…lol!). Sometimes I just mumble some words just to give them an ‘answer’ or brush it off. Why? Because I don’t know how this year is going to be like, honestly (but I have no fear about it…I’m at rest). I am simply walking into the unknown, we all are. All we’ve got in our minds are our prayers, expectations, the plans/projects and desires we have that we would love to see come to pass, hopefully this year, through the help that comes from the Lord (Proverbs 16:3-AMP “Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]”), and so in a nut shell (or a mustard seed), we have no idea what 2016 holds, but we surely know who holds it.

If I may ask a random and rather obvious Question (especially at this time of the year), how was 2015 for you? For me it was an okay year and it moved at a very high speed, I guess it’s coz I was busy and occupied such that time just passed fast, a few opportunities found their way to me and I grabbed them while I out rightly ignored some, I won some battles while I lost in others, I got it right sometimes but sometimes I did not (it’s part of life, you know, the ups and downs, and somehow they make a very beautiful combination ???? ), tough experiences and lessons here and there, some of which act like Rights of Passage, meaning that, we cannot move to the next level unless we go through them. In 1 word, let me call them Seasons, and each one of us goes through different ones every now and then, and I’ve come to learn that the best way to hack them ‘Seasons’ is to know why you’re going through whatever it is you’re going through (it doesn’t matter how long), and to develop a positive attitude while at it. Embrace them even when it feels like pricking thorns on you, and don’t be in hurry to get out before you first know the reason why. They always teach us some-thing.

Each one of us has a couple of expectations and goals we want to accomplish, some new while others have been carried-forward from the previous year(s), dreams we can’t wait to see come to be, and every day we make a point of moving one step ahead and doing all that is in our power for that to happen, but what about those who have and see nothing to hope for (trust me, they’re there, somewhere), those whose faith needs a MAJOR boosting, those who think that (for some strange reason) God is taking forever to attend to their matter, and were hoping that He would in 2015 but that didn’t happen?

It might have began on a very shaky ground for you and you ain’t certain of how it’s gonna turn out, you are very uncomfortable with how things are in your life right now such that worry and doubt have won a place in your mind, and you’re wondering how this and that will be sorted out. Tell you what, Chill a little more, and no matter how badly your hopes have been crashed (by man mostly), remember that it’s good to hope in the Lord, because He does not disappoint. Trust in the Lord and Him alone, and try not to lean on your own understanding (I admit, it’s a struggle sometimes though), as Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

I’m sure I’m not alone in this (self-comfort…haha), but we’re tempted to live Microwaved lives, the kind of lives where we want things to happen pap, in the blink of an eye, you know, get that deal, that Baby, get over that someone who broke your heart into unmanageable pieces and find and be found by the Right Person like immediately, buy land and build a house within a month (this last part it reminds me of what someone I once related with some time back said to me, that I’m the kind of a person who wants to build an apartment and want it to be completed within 1 week…lol! Memories!!! The patience I have today, like right now, has come a looooong way). Somehow we don’t have the patience to wait no more, in this case to wait for God’s perfect timing (it’s the best by the way), we want what we want NOW, we’ve become the NOW GENERATION so to say…lol! (Lord have Mercy)

There’s usually a lot of uncertainty with something new or a new beginning, be it a business, a relationship, a job, and it’s possible to find yourself being blown away by every wave and wind that passes by, but we have to make an effort to know and stand firm on a ground that cannot be easily shaken, and that ground is the WORD OF GOD, to read it for ourselves, know it for ourselves, believe it, breathe it, speak it, walk it, submit to it, meditate on it every now and then. It is the best and most reliable manual to do life with. All I want to do (and I wouldn’t mind if you gladly joined in), is to surrender EVERY THING to God, and patiently wait upon Him because He’s faithful to fulfill His promises in my life. Let God take care of you, stop trying really hard to make it on your own coz you can’t. Let Him continue writing your story, Uniquely and Beautifully. Only He knows how it goes and how it will end, and it’s here I’ll joyfully throw in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope”. Don’t let yourself fret and worry about things you cannot change. However, don’t be lax either, do your best, like 2 Timothy 2:15-AMP tells us “Study and do your best to present yourself to God approved, a workman [tested by trial] who has no reason to be ashamed, accurately handling and skillfully teaching the word of truth”.

All the very best throughout this year, and may we not allow fear to get in and wreak havoc in our lives. Deuteronomy 31:8-AMP says that “It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” God’s got it!

My Prayer to all of us: Numbers 6:24-26-AMP “The Lord bless you, and keep you [protect you, sustain you, and guard you]; The Lord make His face shine upon you [with favor], And be gracious to you [surrounding you with loving-kindness]; The Lord lift up His countenance (face) upon you [with divine approval], And give you peace [a tranquil heart and life].’

Shalom!
